Formula One racing star Jenson Button celebrates his 42nd birthday today on 19th January 2022. Button has been a fan favourite throughout much of his racing career. Since taking the crowd’s adoration by storm in the early 2000s when he first raced in F1.
Jenson’s break into Formula One racing in 2000 made him the youngest racer at the age of 20. And when he finished in sixth place at the end of the Brazil Grand Prix it also made him the youngest driver to score a point in F1 history. Button had raced with various Formula One racing teams up until 2017. When his contract with McLaren ended it gave him the opportunity to spend his time on other racing ventures. However, Jenson Button returned to the Formula One world as a Williams ’Racing senior advisor in 2021.
Alongside Jenson’s racing successes he has also provided a considerable amount of support to charities. Jenson has supported The Prince’s Trust as well as being a patron to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. However, Jenson’s credible work doesn’t end there, his own foundation The Jenson Button Trust provides donations to many charities around the UK.
For many, Jenson Button was the highlight for any F1 race and we are excited for what the future holds for this British racing superstar!
This painting depicts Jenson Button when he was driving for the McLaren Team. Artist Kevin McNicholas had originally planned to have it show him walking in the pit lane. He spent hours painting the pit straight, garages and other related items. However, when the painting was finished Kevin wasn’t entirely happy with it and felt that the background detracted from Jenson’s portrait. So, he took a deep breath and painted over it.
From all of us here at F1 Paintings 'Happy Birthday Jenson we hope its a good one'!
